What are kidney stones?

Kidney stones are a lump caused by the accumulation of minerals until they form into a stone. They are usually found in the renal pelvis and urinary system. They can occur in people of all ages, but they usually occur in people in their 30s and 40s and are more common in men than women. Causes of kidney stones

  • Diabetes, inflammatory bowel disease, obesity

Symptoms of kidney stones 

  • Back, waist or abdominal pain 
  • Have fever, chills, nausea, vomiting 
  • Cloudy red urine or sand mixed in 
  • Pain when urinating

Treatment

  • Reduce salt 
  • Control your intake of meat, milk and butter.
