Kyle Walker has spoken out about his England omission and insists he is not angry with caretaker manager Lee Carsley.
The 34-year-old has not featured for Carsley’s Three Lions squad, making just one substitute appearance for City this season.
Conversely, City team-mate Rico Lewis and Newcastle’s Valentino Livramento have been called up for the games against Ireland and Finland.
Walker has been a regular for England for the past eight years, playing in five major tournaments.
But he admitted that Carsley made the right decision by leaving him out of the squad.
“With a new manager and everything like that, you would expect some changes,” the Man City star said.
“Of course it’s disappointing because representing your country is always the most important thing, especially for England where we’ve done really well.”
“But I haven’t played at all this season, so you have to accept that.”
Walker then revealed he had spoken to Carsley UFABET before the squad was announced, adding: “He’s a great guy. He called me two or three hours before the squad was announced and we just talked.”
“I told him I wanted to play in the 91st game, I wanted to be involved,”
“It depends on form and performance, so I think he made the right decision. I just have to make sure I can prove it to him again soon.”
